In the rough waters around Iceland, there was quite a challenge: protecting crucial data cables at a depth of 100 metres. Anchors from passing ships could easily damage these cables, so a smart, heavy-duty solution was needed.
The solution? 28 huge mattresses, cast with concrete and fitted with lifting eyes. We developed a frame that was fully self-steering and allowed us to accurately position these mattresses on the seabed across 24 locations.
We took the lead, selected the right vessel, picked the ROV and built the tools to make this happen. We also sourced the project management involved and later supervised the execution. A large offshore vessel has been deployed for this work, and a follow-up order has already come in directly from this project: the installation of an offshore water pipeline next year.
