During April 2022, in the mids of the COVID pandemic we received a call from a European Windfarm developer that one of their Monopile has a pilerun, in Taiwanese waters. This means that the monopile, with a weight of 2000mt, has run off, too deep into the soil and was also listing to one side. This meant that the monopile was no longer viable to install a wind turbine on.
We selected a group of companies to support us, Q3 Asia, Q3Heavy Lifting, Mammoet Taiwan, and TMS to come up with a solution to remove the monopile. First we prepared a FEED Study and developed a heavy lifting cutting tool to remove the monopile.
Before we could execute the removal we had to inspect the inside of the monopile and remove the soil plug, this was to allow a cut at 3 meter below the seabed level. We executed the soil plug removal with an airlift after which the monopile was ready for her final cut. For that, WPD called Jumbo Shipping to execute the world.
We mainly work with offshore projects where engineering, execution, and market knowledge come together. Think of ships, subsea tools, and specialist installations.
We are not report writers. We are a project facilitator who gives you all the support you need and help guide your project from start to finish, without being the executor.
We use my global network of 40,000+ partners and resources to open doors and close deals.
